Alaska is famous for its salmon-filled rivers. Situated near Denali National Park, Chunilna Creek is one of Alaska’s greatest fishing spots. The river holds 5 different species of salmon that you can find at different times of the year. In addition to Alaskan salmon, you have Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden and Grayling, providing plenty of variety all year round. The lodge itself is ideally located. The best fishing pools in the river are right outside of our lodge so you don’t have to go far for great fishing. For those who want to explore further, guided trips are available to other close by tributaries. Fishing is closed from 11pm to 6am during King Salmon season June- July 13th, so those hours are reserved for delicious meals and conversation around the camp fire.
Typical King Salmon will be 15-30lbs and the guide’s personal best is 75 lbs.! If it’s rainbow trout you’re after, you won’t be disappointed. Fishers at Chunilna Creek have caught fat rainbow trout up to 75 cm (30 inches).
